Abstract

The study aims to present the metaphor of the Dead City in musical art, which realises one of the variants of urban themes in mythology, literature, music and allows the researcher to comprehend relevant issues of our time. Scientific novelty of the research lies in developing a metaphorical approach to studying musical works and for the first time applying it to Iraida Yusupova’s composition “Kitezh-19” (2004). As a result, the researcher has determined nature of interaction between expressive means of two opposite language systems (neoclassical means and electronic ambient), which made it possible to render in an allegorical form the tragic end of the post-technogenic mirage city and collapse of the modern civilisation.
