Abstract

This publication introduces the academic community to the new data from the archives of Dmitry Grigorovich (7 letters) and Andrey Kraevsky (6 letters), stored in the Russian National Library (Saint-Petersburg). The letters are united by the discussion of the terms of publication of the novel Country Roads in the Otechestvennye Zapiski magazine. A short accompanying article, based on Grigorovich’s Literary Memoirs, provides the data on the main stages of his work on the text and on the challenges faced in the course of this work. The publication was prepared for Grigorovich’s 200th anniversary and the 170th anniversary of the fi rst publication of his novel Country Roads.
