Abstract

The article is devoted to the study of the typology and usage of Japanese puns in artworks belonging to the modern Japanese popular culture. The relevance of the study is accounted for the growing need to understand the frequency of usage, types and content of Japanese puns, caused by an increase in demand for artworks belonging to modern Japanese popular culture. Puns from the manga “Gintama” and the anime “Oh, that psychic Saiki Kusuo!” were used as material for analysis.
