Abstract
This article highlights the issues related to the study of foreign language communicative competence, namely its improvement by means of biblical phraseology. The relevance of this topic is indisputable, as it is conditioned by the considerable scientific interest in biblical phraseological units in the linguo-methodological aspect on the one hand, and by the insufficient study of biblical phraseology as a separate layer of phraseological lexicon both in linguistics and in the methodology for teaching foreign languages, on the other hand. The article analyses the theoretical prerequisites of the necessity to introduce a special course of studies "Biblical phraseology"; it presents a fragment of a training glossary containing English biblical phraseological units and their interpretation, as well as the tasks and exercises aimed at the development of foreign language communicative competence by means of biblical phraseology.
