Abstract

The aim of the research is to study the problem of woman at war and the phenomena of the front-line love and sexual culture from the point of modern military historical and gender anthropology. The scientific originality of the research lies in the fact that it introduces new sources, that is ego-documents of a front-line soldier, a navigator electrician of the M-107 and M-119 submarines G. I. Sennikov, in the scientific usage. As a result, it has been proved that beside the gender roles traditionally played by women in military operations (the role of a mother and hearth keeper, the role of a victim), the submarine sailor’s diary shows other female roles and corresponding behaviour stereotypes: the roles of a fellow comrade, a bride, a lover. The perception of love and sexual culture by a young combatant has allowed identifying some “pressure points” of military gender relationships and marking the phenomena of gender disruption of stereotypical sex roles, bipolarization of love and sexual culture at war, emancipation of social and gender roles.
