Abstract

Scientific and technological progress has penetrated into drug-related crime and led to a new way of drug marketing through a non-contact manner. Generally speaking, in non-contact drug marketing the dealers attract customers by placing advertisements. Buyers pay for drugs via electronic payment systems, and the drugs are distributed through caches. As a result, there is no direct personal contact between drug pushers and drug users. This does not only increase the territory involved in such offenses, but also their number. One can also highlight the major qualitative changes caused by effective methods of suppressing the traces of the crime. This method of drug distribution is characterized by threestage structure, i.e. the crime preparation stage, the commission of crime stage and the stage of suppression of crime traces. The article describes the peculiarities of each stage. Particular attention is paid to the technical characteristics of IT solutions used by criminals. The personal characteristics of criminals as well as criminal groups are given. The authors study the challenges in investigation and solution of these crimes and suggest ways to meet them.DOI 10.14258/izvasu(2015)2.1-16
