Abstract

The article examines the COSSACK concept in the context of the Kuban phraseology. The paper aims to reveal the role of the COSSACK concept in the Kuban Cossacks’ linguistic worldview in relation to the category “the native - the outsider”. Scientific originality of the study lies in the fact that the author for the first time analyses lexico-semantic representation of the COSSACK concept in the Kuban Cossacks’ regional linguistic worldview by the material of local phraseology. The findings indicate that the COSSACK concept contains both ameliorative and pejorative connotations and bears different semantic load in military sphere and in civil life in terms of the dichotomy “the native - the outsider”.
