Abstract

This study examined the relationships among the cooks traumatic experience, post trauma growth, career satisfaction and career commitment. This study assessed moderating effect of vocational calling between traumatic events experience and post trauma growth. Online survey were conducted on 330 restaurant cooks and 295 questionnaires were analyzed with structural equation model. Result demonstrated that the cooks traumatic experience had a significant effect on post-traumatic growth. Furthermore, post traumatic growth had significant effect on career satisfaction. But our analyses found that self-perception had not significant effect. It was found that cooks traumatic experience had a significant effect on career satisfaction and career commitment. As a result, career satisfaction and career commitment through post traumatic growth increase quality improvement and customer service. Results provide new insights for food industry regarding employees’ career development.
