Abstract

Output control of turning products is one of the most important production tasks. Typically, control is carried out manually using contact tools – calipers and micrometers, which reduces quality and slows down production. Also, contact control is not always possible due to the dimensions or characteristics of the product. The purpose of the article is to develop and describe a possible method for a noncontact detail measuring. The article discusses an optical method for measuring the diameter of a product made on a lathe using a stereo camera and a laser. Equipment calibration algorithms for the measurement process are described. An experiment was conducted to demonstrate the performance of the proposed algorithm.
