Abstract

On the surface of the slab cross-section of 270?1200 mm revealed the presence of bulge narrow faces and tightening wide faces in edge zone at JSC “Ural Steel”. With the increase of the narrow side of convexity increases as the depth and width tightening wide cast slab edge. A mechanism of deformation of the cross section of the slab were offered. The statistically significant relationship between the width and depth of the zone "sink marks" on the broad faces of the continuous cast billet of the value convexity of its narrow faces were established. The reason for distortion of the profile billet is insufficient solidified crust thickness of metal at the outlet of the narrow faces of the slab supporting the frame of the mold. Based on the calculated data, a rational length of the frame to support the mold narrow faces of the cast slab was proposed. The measures to prevent shape deterioration of the cast slab were considered.
