Abstract
Abstract: The present article offers a brief comparison of issues encountered when translating the Bible and the Chronicles of Narnia into the Tuvan language of south Siberia. Many of the issues are similar, such as the need for developing a system of key terms, dealing with cultural mismatch between the source text and recipient language, and taking into account audience expectations. Some significant differences include the level of difficulty in understanding the meaning of the original text and the degree of freedom a translator has in translating sacred versus non-sacred text.
