Abstract

The article studies the emotional concept of JOY presented as part of human mental activity.The concept of JOY is analysed in both languages mainly through its figurative aspect but also by studying its conceptual and axiological aspect. JOY is a basic, positive human emotion, which makes it possible and easy to express it by using common metaphorical models. They make it possible to reveal similarities while perceiving universal emotions by using common metaphorical images in both languages. We focus on lexemes and lexico-semantical groups, phraseologisms, as well as metaphorical and metonimical phrases, which reveal the content of the concept JOY in German and Bulgarian. Cognitive Linguistics offers many cognitive structures in different languages. They all may serve as a mutual base of comparison.
