Abstract

The article aims to identify lexico-semantic means used to realize the concept POVERTY while describing children in the English and Russian fiction texts. Scientific originality of the study lies in the fact that the researcher provides a lexico-semantic analysis of lexical units, ascertains types of subtext in the author’s speech, reveals peculiarities of poor children’s speech and describes emotions and communicative strategies applied to them in contrast to poor adult personages.
