Abstract

The aim of the study is to ascertain the work of cognitive mechanisms of cross-cultural communication in the process of simultaneous translation based on the material of English-Russian translation. The paper examines the processes involved in cross-cultural communication in the conditions of simultaneous translation, during which the integration of the communication participants’ mental spaces is observed. Scientific novelty lies in determining cognitive mechanisms of cross-cultural communication in relation to simultaneous translation. As a result, it has been proved that due to cognitive mechanisms of cross-cultural communication, in particular interactive alignment and inferencing, it is possible to communicate the invariant of meaning in translation under conditions of limited time and increased stress-inducing load on the perception of the information received.
