Abstract

Antonyms are a helpful tool for antithesis constructions of artistic expression, for the creation of oxymorons, a more visual contrast and comparison of contrasting phenomena. Oxymorons make it possible to especially vividly and at the same time expressively emphasize the dialectical essence of a particular phenomenon, to show the complexity and inconsistency of the described fact. Antonyms are used for titles. On the sharp contrast of the words-antonyms, one of the stylistic figures-antithesis is built. This technique is used in folk poetry, proverbs and sayings, and is also characteristic of maxims, figurative expressions, and winged phrases.
