Abstract
The purpose of the article is a comprehensive and in-depth study of the struggle unfolding in the modern world between "old" and "new players" for international leadership and the status of a great power. The hypothesis is to identify new international actors that have real grounds for the role of global leaders in the transition from a unipolar to a multipolar world order. These are, first of all, China and Russia, which is trying to revive the status of a great power, as well as the European Union, Great Britain, and Turkeyand Iran, striving for dominance in the Muslim world. The results of the analysis are that the circle of the main participants of the "Great Game" was outlined, the interests of each of these players, their goals, potential were identified, and the chances of them achieving the status of a new "center of power" were determined.
