Abstract

The article analyzes the attitude towards large families of urban Kazakh women (university students). The analysis is based on the data of the author’s sociological study “Regional Features of the Reproductive Attitudes of Kazakh Female Students”, which was conducted for three years (2021-2023) and allows us to consider the processes of transformation of reproductive attitudes in the medium term and in the context of the active urbanization of the Kazakh ethnic group. There is a high percentage of respondents planning to become mothers of many children. The authors concluded that there is a contradiction between identity based on ethno-traditional and religious values, on the one hand, and the desire for modernized forms of success, on the other.
