Abstract
The article covers the safety challenges of motor car rolling stock (MCRS). The indicators of traffic safety violations on the Sverdlovsk Railway sections for 2020 are analysed, and their comparison with the indicators for 2019 is made. The analysis was carried out for each cause of the violation separately: failures, technological violations and transport accidents. The devices for ensuring traffic safety and the peculiar features of operation of the “Barrier” hardware and software complex installed on the MCRS are reviewed.
