Abstract

The paper defines a description of geological structure, conditions of formation and paleofaunistic material from two new locations of fossil mammals within the Minusinsk Depression. Three types of sedimentation are determined for the Chernousov Log section. The upper part of the section is represented by subaerial deposits of the Late Holocene. The middle section part is characterised by traces of soil formation of the Holocene optimum. The lower stratum is represented by alluvial deposits of the Late Karginian-Early Sartanian time. Two locations of mammals dating from the Sartanian and Holocene optimum are identified. The age of faunas is substantiated by their stratigraphic position in the section and results of radiocarbon dating.
