Abstract

The article analyzes the normative base, structure and composition of the German armed forces, military formations and special services for the protection of the rear of the Wehrmacht in the fight against partisan resistance and underground movement in Ukraine in 1941–1944. The article argues that the main support structure for the occupation regime was the security divisions of the ground forces. Along with the security divisions were functioning field, garrison and city commanders, secret police groups, gendarmerie units, security police, Einsatzgrupp. The Gestapo and the Nazi Party's security service – the SD, Abwer and his units – were also engaged in the fight against the guerrilla movement.
