Abstract

Present methods of fuel and motor oil consumption calculation are executed with assumption that navigation conditions are invariable during the whole voyage. But environmental changes may affect the actual consumption of fuel and motor oil. The most probable range of environment parameter changes makes: environmental temperature -20°C - 40°C, barometrical pressure 660-775 millimeters of mercury, relative air humidity 35-100%, salt-water temperature 5-30°C. The correction of real tests results to standard normal environmental conditions in accordance with GOST R 525217-2005 (ISO 3046-1:2002) has been recalculated. The results of diesel Cummins type KTA G3 test with nominal power Ne = 1227 kW and speed output n =1500 min-1 have been presented. The correction of the results to normal condition for this engine has been made. According to the statistics of atmospheric environment in the port of Vladivostok, specific effective fuel consumption has been calculated. The comparison of real test results and calculation results showed that deviations due to environment change in Vladivostok does not exceed 4.7%. The calculation of fuel consumption changes under extreme environmental conditions has been executed. The proposed method of fuel and motor oil consumption calculation can be applied to standard rates and real consumption during a voyage.
