Abstract
The Donetsk People's Republic, which became part of the Russian Federation as an independent region in September 2022, is currently in a difficult socio-economic situation due to the hostilities on its territory since 2014. The proximity of the front line, the danger of shelling, the rupture of logistics and commodity ties, the de-struction of industrial and social infrastructure have caused lack of innovation, reduced investor interest in par-ticipating in the economic development of the region. This article is intended to present the mechanism of im-plementation of the strategy of socio-economic development of the Donetsk People's Republic (DNR) as a new region of the Russian Federation taking into account the innovative component of industrial development, elaborated by the authors. Its main idea is that the activation of innovative development is based on the con-nection between science and production, its targeted staffing and investment support for such development.
