Abstract
The purpose of the paper is to study Alim Teppeev’s creative experience in the novella genre in the context of innovative searches of XX century Balkar literature. Scientific originality of the research lies in the fact that this topic is being considered for the first time from the specified perspective. As a result, the role of the writer’s creative work in the evolution of the Balkar novella has been determined. By analysing “A Nine-Day Trip”, one of the author’s representative prose works, the researcher was able to identify innovative trends expressed in the literary concept of a person in the situation of moral choice, the specifics of chronotope modelling, the structural organisation of the work, the polyphonic nature of the conflict, the stylistic enrichment, renewal of the image system.
