Abstract
The work investigated the features of the formation of adhesions in the pleural cavity of minipigs using powdered titanium nickelide with different granule sizes, intended for pleurodesis in recurrent metastatic pleurisy. The studies were carried out on 27 sexually mature female minipigs. An experimental model of spraying titanium nickelide into the pleural cavity during thoracoscopy through a troacoport in an anesthetized and mechanically ventilated animal was used. Based on the macro- and micromorphological picture, the optimal dispersion of titanium nickelide powder granules was determined and the effect of obliteration of the pleural cavity was characterized in comparison with medical talc. Pleurodesis using titanium nickelide powder with a granule dispersion of 20 - 200 microns, intended for obliteration of the pleural cavity with recurrent metastatic pleurisy, causes a moderate adhesive process in the pleural cavity on days 7, 14 and 21 of the experiment, which is inferior in prevalence and effectiveness of obliteration of the pleural cavity to the comparison substance medical talc. At the same time, against the background of titanium nickelide with a granule dispersion of 80 (60; 100) microns, a local inflammatory reaction does not form and hydrothorax does not develop, which was observed when using medical talc. The results obtained allow us to conclude that, in general, spraying titanium nickelide powder into the pleural cavity provides effective and safe pleurodesis by 14–21 days of the postoperative period. The optimal degree of dispersion of titanium nickelide powder granules, providing effective and safe pleurodesis in an experiment on minipig, is the range of 20 - 160 microns...
