Abstract

The article is devoted to the review of standardization and certification as a means of ensuring the safety and quality of goods, works and services. In modern conditions, the organization and implementation of the production process, trade, and the provision of various kinds of services is impossible without the state-level introduction of technical documents that control the appropriate level of quality of the provided products, services and utilized technologies, which ensure their development in the future. The purpose of this article is to systematize scientific information, highlight the functional features of standardization and certification as tools for quality management and ensuring consumers' rights to use high-quality and safe products as well as forming competitive advantages for domestic products. The advantages of standardization and certification that affect the quality and safety of goods have been identified. Their main function is to protect man, his property and the environment from the negative effects of modern scientific and technical developments, substandard manufacturers and sellers, as well as creating conditions for fair competition. The results of the presented research can be used to improve production quality management, in particular: the application of quality management systems, environmental management systems and other integrated systems. This will allow to increase production efficiency, improve product quality, improve the management of the national economy, and develop scientific and technical cooperation.
