Abstract

The retrospective cohort study included 430 cases of pulmonary TB relapses in adults aged 18-65 years and over, notified in the Right Bank region and the ATU of Gagauzia in the Republic of Moldova in 2019. Our objective was to study age-related, clinical, and epidemiological characteristics of pulmonary TB relapses in the Republic of Moldova. Patients with recurrent pulmonary TB were stratified into three age groups: YA (young age), MAO (middle-aged and older) and ASA (advanced and senile age). We established clinical and epidemiological heterogeneity in these groups. The most pronounced features and differences were observed in patients in the ASA group. Thus, we determined the key age-related, clinical, and epidemiological characteristics, risk factors and their combinations associated with the development of TB relapses.
