Abstract

Interest in various technologies which in one form or another involve combustible gases is constantly growing. Work in the field of development and improvement of hydrocarbon technologies was launched back in 1949 at the Institute of Gas of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine by Prof. A.P. Kleemenko. It is successfully continued by his scientific school. The main aspects of this work performed under the guidance of A.P. Kleemenko, whose 100th anniversary is celebrated this year, are considered in the article. Peculiarities of single stream and three stream cascade cryogenic cycles for the production of liquefied natural gas (LNG) developed by A.P. Kleemenko are analyzed. These cycles are widely used by many companies to create large-capacity LNG plants. A.P. Kleemenko’s main scientific works are characterized. Attention is directed to their relevance nowadays.
