Abstract

The article aims to identify the zarzuela genre features and to analyse specificity of their manifestation in the “La Revoltosa” (“The Troublemaker”) saynète by Ruperto Chapí. Scientific originality of the study is determined by the fact that the zarzuela genre has not been previously investigated in the domestic musicology. The research objective includes analysing the chico and zarzuela genres. Special attention is paid to studying principles of interaction of musical, dramatic and scenic elements in “La Revoltosa”. The paper considers the saynète as semiotic integrity, examines the role of the author’s remarks, proxemics, melodic and dynamic components. The research findings allow concluding that “La Revoltosa” is based on the synthesis of arts principle.
