Abstract

Family is the primary and basic unit of a society. Stronger the family, stronger the society; weaker the family, weaker the society. If incoherent, disorganized and lopsided is the institution of family, no power on earth can fill its void. This article highlights the comparative analysis of Islamic & Western dimensions of the family system. The perspective of family in Islam, its composition and importance is compared and contrasted with various family systems in the west. The family is in fact the part and parcel of the social order of Islam. The Islamic society is an ideological society based on the ethical and moral enlightenment and awareness.
