Abstract
The article considers the history and features of interstate cooperation development between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Russian Federation in the field of regulation of labor migration (after the collapse of the USSR); determines the factors of the migration flows from the Republic of Tajikistan to the Russian Federation; describes the demographic trend in the Republic of Tajikistan and its impact on migration flows abroad. On the basis of a wide range of sources, the measures directed at the improvement of legal base for labor migrants from the Republic of Tajikistan to the Russian Federation are reflected. Attention is focused on the activities of public associations and cultural centers of Tajiks for the protection of the rights and interests of labor migrants in the Russian Federation. The conclusion is made that the problems of migrant workers from the Republic of Tajikistan require the creation of optimal conditions for their work in the host country, the improvement of migration legislation and the transformation of the public consciousness of Russian citizens and migrants themselves about migration issues.
