Abstract

The study focuses on analysing the influence of craft activity on the development of the spiritual culture of aborigines from Berezovsky district of Tobolsk province at the turn of the XIX-XX centuries. Crafts played the key role in the natives’ life. Regardless of national and geographical peculiarities they influenced all the life spheres of the Samoyeds, Ostyaks and Voguls. Initially they had exclusively material value but in the course of time craft products, animals and fishing gear occupied a significant place in the indigenous culture of Tobolsk province. Craft culture was represented in games, entertainments, tool making, etc.
