Abstract

The paper aims to reveal the specificity of author’s image representation in V. O. Klyuchevsky’s work “A History of Russia” by the material of text fragments describing literary monument “Yunosti Chestnoe Zertsalo” (“The Honorable Mirror for Youth”) - young noblemen’s etiquette book of Peter the Great’s epoch. Author’s image category is considered as a manifestation of a universal category of subjectivity and as a basic text-formative category, for the first time the researcher analyses the problem of author’s image representation by the material of scientific texts, and herein lies scientific originality of the study. As a result, it is proved that authorial vision manifests itself in authorial usage of language means and stylistic contrast, which creates special aesthetic effect and helps the historian to express his attitude to Peter the Great’s educational reform.
