Abstract
Consular access plays a significant role in ensuring the rights of foreign nationals deprived of their liberty in the Russian Federation. The analysis of international treaties of the Russian Federation and Russian legislation has revealed the existence of different approaches to the implementation of consular notification and consular access. Such approaches require unification within the framework of the current legislation.
