Abstract
The article offers an annotated publication of two letters by the acclaimed philologist, poet, and translator of Russian emigration V.F. Markov to Boris Pasternak’s sister L.L. Pasternak-Slater. The correspondence refers to events that took place in 1965, when Markov was particularly worried about the problems of translation and commentary connected with the preparation of his new anthology Modern Russian Poetry (1966). In Markov’s letters, he discusses the problems of poetic translation, he comments to Pasternak’s poems, and he also reveals his interest in the history of Russian futurism.
