Abstract
The article draws a parallel between the level of modern education and the problems that exist in the artistic and pedagogical training of students. Recommendations are given for solving one of the issues of teaching academic drawing at the pedagogical university – depicting a plaster head of David, with the analysis of the structural construction and anatomical features of the model, as well as the sequence of the task. The relationship between drawing and the peculiarities of our perception is traced, with a description of the artist's ways of seeing at a particular stage of the work. The purpose of the research topic is to increase the effectiveness of independent learning of academic drawing in the second year of the pedagogical university. Scientific novelty lies in the development and experimental testing of methodological recommendations for the step-by-step performance of the plaster head drawing "David", on the example of the author's graphic images. Experimental testing of these materials confirmed the effectiveness of their use in the organization of independent learning of students at the "Department of Fine Arts and Methodology of Teaching" BSPU.
