Abstract
Objectives The purpose of this study was to develop a counseling program to improve novice school counselors’s self-reflection and to verify the effectiveness.
 Methods According to the development model of Kim, et al. (2011), the research procedure went through a total of 4 stages including planning, composing, implementing, and evaluating verify its effectiveness. Based on the preliminary research, the expert counseling process was modified and supplemented. The research tool used was self- reflection scale and self-awareness scale. The data was processed using the Repeated Measures ANOVA method in SPSS/Windows 22.0. To compensate for the limitations of the reliability of quantitative results, the effectiveness of the program by sub-area was analyzed and presented based on the session-by-session comments of group members and the consultant's observations.
 Results The main results from this study are as follows. The effect of the group counseling program for novice counselors was significantly higher in the experimental group than in the control group. As a result of qualitative analysis of the experience report data written by the participants of the experimental group, the change of self-reflection was found through participation in the program.
 Conclusions This study is meaningful in that it provided the data to improve the self-reflection of novice professional counselors and to promote it.
