Abstract

The paper aims to identify the folkloric methods applied by the Mordovian composer G. G. Vdovin in choral miniatures from the vocal-choreographic suite “Тейтерень Пия Кудо” (“Maiden House of Beer”) created on the basis of the ancient Mordovian ritual performance. The study is based on the methodology developed by the Russian art critic L. P. Ivanova, who proposed the most complete classification of folkloric methods. Scientific originality of the research lies in the fact that the suite’s choral miniatures are analysed from the viewpoint of folkloric methods implementation. The conducted research allows identifying the following methods: interpretation, genre reconstruction, genre synthesis, genre transformation, using principles of folk musical thinking, creating authorial melodies for folklore texts.
