Abstract

Abstract: In the article the interrelation between collection of water in the soil and stability of the slope upon occurrence of shallow landslides developed under effect of heavy rains are analyzed. It is noted that non-stability of mountain slopes is one of major problems of land management. The shallow landslides are classified as one of general landslide types in the mountainous landscapes. The topographic properties of the site are the major factor affecting the stability of slopes. The effect of mountain conditions on pressure of soils holes under long time heavy rains is modeled using the Darcy law which determines the conditions for occurrence of stable water flow in an unsaturated zone. The possibility of simplified solution of Darcy equation for calculating stable vertical water flow in an non-saturated zone is considered. The proposed approximated solution makes it possible to calculate the safety coefficient of slopes concerning the possibility of occurring shallow landslides due to heavy rains.
