Abstract
The article discusses the main causes of degradation of trolleybus systems in Russian cities in the last 30 years. The main advantages of new trolleybuses with the possibility of autonomous running are given and the main options for the development of the urban electric transport network through the use of rolling stock of this type are proposed.
