Abstract

Among the complications of abdominal delivery, a special place is occupied by a defect (failure) of the scar on the uterus after a cesarean section, a cesarean scar defect (CSD). The main problem of CSD is the risk of uterine rupture during subsequent pregnancies and births. However, CSD can cause several gynecological and obstetric disorders, including abnormal uterine bleeding, dysmenorrhea, infertility, and ectopic pregnancy. In addition to abdominal or vaginal metroplasty, treatment options for CSD include operative hysteroscopy, which has been emphasized in recent years. However, as our studies have shown, its potential to correct CSD is strictly limited and concerns primarily the management of gynecological symptoms in women not planning pregnancy. As an independent method, it can be used only in patients with deep but not wide isthmocele. The thickness of the residual myometrium in such cases is not of fundamental importance.
