Abstract

The article provides the historiographical survey of the modern scientific works revealing the meaning and importance of peasant movement in the years of the Civil War. The author focuses on analyzing the publications concerning Tambov rebellion of 1920-1921. Researchers’ interests are focused on identifying the causes of the peasant protest, finding new sources, reconstructing the socio-psychological image of the leaders of the revolt and its ordinary participants. In conclusion the author highlights possible research trends and summarizes controversial issues in this research area.
