Abstract

The aim of the study is to identify the features of gender identity construction in the modern political media discourse of Germany by the example of women politicians’ nicknames. The article discusses the main strategies for creating the gender identity of women politicians in order to form their positive or negative image. The scientific novelty lies in the research of women politicians’ nicknames as a means of constructing masculinity and femininity. As a result, it has been found that a positive image of politicians correlates with the sphere of masculinity, however, women politicians tend to compile the features of male and female communication styles in their political activity.
