Abstract

The article describes the verbal image-breaking strategies and tactics aimed at the professional-personal component of the political image by the material of political debates in the Bundestag. The current definitions of the notion “political image” are given and its structure is considered. The extensive corpus of speeches by politicians of the German Bundestag is analysed and intentions of communicants when making verbal attacks are highlighted. The analysis of specific linguistic means used by communicants, which are aimed at achieving greater perlocutionary effect, is carried out.
