Abstract

Based on a self-built corpus, this study explores the construction of self-mentions in Korean and Chinese research articles. Finding shows that in Korean articles, non-personal terms were used far more than first personal plural pronoun, while in Chinese articles, two expressions of self-mentions were evenly used. Korean scholars mainly use "우리”to narrow the distance from readers, and Chinese scholars mainly reveal their status as experts through "我们". But they all tend to increase the objectivity of research by separating themselves from texts through non-personal terms. (Zhejiang Normal UniversityㆍKyungpook National University)
