Abstract
By the example of the lexeme “коса” (plait), the article reveals the potential of the contrastive dictionary of the Kuban folk songs language (in the context of the Russian and Ukrainian folk traditions) while conducting a cross-cultural study. The structure of the contrastive dictionary entry, which includes four pairwise blocks, is developed taking into account bilingual specificity of the Kuban folklore: lexemes of the Kuban Cossacks’ Ukrainian-language songs correlate with the vocabulary of the Ukrainian folk songs; accordingly, lexical material of the Russian-language songs correlates with the vocabulary of the Russian (South Russian) folk songs.
