Abstract

Teaching Russian as a foreign language is based on the fundamental principles of the communicative approach. Vocabulary learning as a tool for thought transmission plays an essential role in the communicative approach. In the article, a theoretical model of linguistic competence development is analysed, and its practical realisation on the basis of journalistic texts is offered. The author is convinced that knowledge of the peculiarities of the journalistic language can help students not only understand the content of the text and delve into its meaning, but also develop linguistic and communicative competences and join the socio-cultural values of Russia.
