Abstract

In modern conditions of urbanized areas development, the importance of protection from noise exposure is increasing. In connection with the increase in the number of vehicles, industrialization of cities, the growth of transport mobility of the population, the growth of technical equipment of urban facilities, the levels of noise pollution are increasing. One of the building estates of Zhitomir was selected for research. It is remote from the city center and partially surrounded by a green zone, which reduces the likelihood of the influence of other nearby areas with significant traffic on the formation of the level of internal noise load. Based on a preliminary survey of the building estate, key areas were identified where noise measurements were then carried out. The main requirement for the spectrum of key areas was the uniformity of placement, coverage of all functional areas and the possibility of parallel noise measurement at its source and within a residential area. On the basis of statistical processing of the obtained experimental data, cartographic models of the spatial distribution of noise pollution within the building estate were developed. According to the research results, zones with different levels of noise pollution were identified. The highest noise level is observed near the places where cars leave the lanes for the main road. The final stage of the project was the development of measures to reduce the noise load on residential buildings and adjacent areas. Based on the results of acoustic calculations, the geometric parameters of the screens are determined, the requirements for the acoustic characteristics of the screen design are provided, and the basic designs that meet these characteristics are proposed. The design efficiency of the screens is 7–8 dB. The design noise level was determined taking into account the measures and the design map of the noise load was created.
