Abstract

The purpose of this study is to identify the characteristics of design expression in urban parks by the theory of gamification is applied and to activate urban parks. As a concrete research method, first, the concept and type of neighborhood parks and theory of gamification were identified through previous studies and literature reviews. Second, we surveyed 20 Neighborhood Parks within Walking Distance that can be surveyed smoothly among Neighborhood Parks within Walking Distance located in Busan and Ulsan as field surveys. In addition, the analysis items were established after deriving the connection between the facility type of neighborhood parks, the game mechanics, game dynamics, and player types of neighborhood parks based on previous studies and literature reviews. Finally, it was applied to the analysis items of the study. Also, individual and integrated analyzes of the neighborhood parks were conducted. Through this, we tried to understand the design expression characteristics of neighborhood parks. This study is a new study, a field in which many existing studies have not been conducted. Therefore, this study will be the basic data for further research on neighborhood parks and theory of gamification. In addition, it is expected to have a positive effect on the aesthetics of the city as a guideline for future neighborhood parks design.
