Abstract

Rhegmatogenous retinal detachment, complicated by macular hole often leads to severe visual impairment. The aim of the research was to study the effectiveness of surgical treatment of patients with retinal detachment complicated by macular rupture of the РVR В-C, depending on the method of subretinal fluid drainage. We studied the data of 18 patients (18 eyes), which were divided into 2 groups depending on the presence of a hole in the periphery of the retina. Patients of the 1st group underwent surgical treatment with drainage of the subretinal fluid through the central hole, patients of the 2nd group – with drainage through the primary peripheral hole. Visual acuity, microperimetry, and optical coherence tomography were used to assess the anatomical and functional outcome. Based on the analysis of the results of the study, it can be concluded that the peripheral method of drainage of subretinal fluid using a perfluoroorganic compound is better. This technique leads to a higher functional and anatomical result. Keywords: retinal detаchment, macular hole, subretinal fluid
