Abstract

The paper aims to reveal theoretical and methodological foundations for formation of developmental speech environment of aboriginal languages of the Russian North, Siberia and the Far East (elementary education level). The author defines the notion “developmental speech environment”, describes possibilities for developmental speech environment formation taking into account a sociolinguistic situation in places of the aboriginal peoples’ traditional residence. Scientific originality of the study involves justifying importance of developmental speech environment as a pedagogical condition for preservation of aboriginal languages. The research findings are as follows: the author clarifies the notion “developmental speech environment” in relation to aboriginal languages, suggests a classification of levels of aboriginal languages functioning in educational space, introduces a model to form developmental speech environment of aboriginal languages relying on the proposed classification.
